Surrey University

We have been working at Surrey University for some time on both academic buildings such as the new School of Veterinary Medicine and the development of new student accommodation at the University’s Manor Park campus.

There are currently 1800 en-suite units on the campus and through investment of over £75m a further 1200 are planned. Growing rapidly the University is committed to providing high spec accommodation in a calm and save environment and this is much valued and appreciated by the students.

Featured here is our work on ‘Block G’ which is a new build unit providing accommodation for 200 students. We were Electrical and Mechanical contractors for this block and have since been commissioned in the same role for the construction of ‘Block H’.

Sustainability is at the heart of all development at the University. The campus is designed to be an ‘urban village’ of high quality buildings within an integrated landscape setting where pedestrians cyclists and public transport are given priority over cars. Block G is supported by Combined Heating and Power (CHP) systems a highly efficient process which can reduce carbon emissions by up to 30% and energy costs by as much as 20%. All lighting is LED which can be 80% more efficient than traditional lighting.

We greatly look forward to continuing to play a role in this great story of success
