Case study

Premier Inn Extention Barnstable

This project involved providing the Electrical and Mechanical systems to a new 20 bed Premier Inn Extension in Barnstaple

For the Electricals a new MCCB panel was located in the linen room of the extension, and all sub distribution and electrical services for the rooms were supplied from here.

New Electrical Systems installed included:

  • General power, Main LV and distribution
  • Fire alarm
  • TV and data
  • Disabled refuge
  • Disabled alarm

For the Mechanicals we needed to install a 42mm incoming coldwater main through the roof, cold water storage tank in the new plant room and delivery system using cold water booster sets.

The use of an Air Source Heat Pump provides stored hot water throughout the hotel’s outlets. This system is controlled through its own controller via the BMS panel which allows the system to be remotely monitored for any maintenance or system issues.

Alongside hot and coldwater systems, each bathroom has its own ventilation supply and extraction system.

Each bedroom also has its own air conditioning unit which can be controlled by the end user independently via the bedroom controller.

All of the above is controlled via a centralised BMS panel located in the plantroom. This panel is responsible for monitoring the overall hotel extension system from the hot and cold water to the air conditioning. Alerting the hotel of any issues with the systems including a summary of the issue raised.
