Guilsfield Primary School Boiler Upgrade

As part of a tendered heating framework set out by Powys County Council for upgrades to heating systems across its schools, CF Roberts undertook an upgrade to the boiler system at Guilsfield Primary School.

A site survey was carried out on the current boiler system, including its condition, size, and location, to determine the type of new boiler needed.  A suitable boiler was chosen based on factors like the size of the property, energy needs, and existing pipework.

Various additional parties were included in this installation, including Building Management Systems specialists and flue specialists.  To ensure the school stayed operational throughout the works a temporary plant room was set up within the school playground.

Due to the location of the plant room one of the challenges was around access and safety.  This was overcome through use of fencing and barriers to create a safe site compound.

Localised pipework modifications were carried out to suit the position of the new boiler, with 3 new central heating pumps installed alongside this to further increase the efficiency output.

Good communication with the client ensured the project was completed to a high standard within budget and programme agreed.
